Frequently Asked Questions
Who will be my photographer?
All photography is carried out by me, Charlie. If you book me to photograph your wedding then I'll contact you by telephone to discuss your photography requirements in detail. This normally takes about 30 minutes, and involves a bit of chat to get to know each other a little as well. If you would like to meet me in person beforehand then I'm always up for a relaxed meeting over coffee and cake or a virtual meet-up over Skype.
How long have you been a photographer?
I've been a professional photographer for over a decade. I trained at the University for the Creative Arts, Kent. I've photographed weddings in the UK and the Caribbean.
Which areas are you available to photograph weddings?
I generally photograph weddings in Essex, Kent, Surrey, Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and London. However, I have travelled as far as St Andrews in Scotland and Falmouth in Cornwall, for which travel and hotel costs were an additional expense to my regular photography fee.
What equipment do you use?
I use Nikon cameras and accessories. I always carry a spare camera, lenses, flash gun and several spare memory cards to every wedding.
What style of photography do you produce?
The best way to see that is to view the photo gallery. I would describe my style as relaxed and fun.
I'm having a themed wedding, are you willing to dress accordingly?
What fun, of course!
What makes you different to all the other photographers I found after a quick search on Google?
Wonderful customer service - I'll make sure I know your requirements before the wedding day. A wedding is a happy day, I am a cheerful person who will be courteous to your guests even when I'm working hard. I work unobtrusively during the day, but provide clear instructions when organising guests for the group photos. After your wedding, I aim to have your photographs ready for you within a week.
Whilst I believe that in life you generally get what you pay for, I also feel that high quality photography need not be insanely expensive. I like to believe my price is a good balance between quality and affordability.
How will my photographs be delivered?
Each image is prepared for you in three ways. A high resolution file that is perfect for printing, a smaller file size that is perfect for viewing on TV, computer and iPad screens, and an even smaller file that is optimised for uploading to Facebook - yes, that's right, I don't mind you uploading the images online so your friends and family can see them too!
You will receive a link to an online gallerywhich allows you to see and share your photos with friends and family as soon as they are available, and you will also receive a USB stick and DVD containing all your images in the post a few days later.
Why book a professional photographer at all? I've got an Uncle with a fancy camera who can take some pictures for us...
I've heard a lot of stories from people over the years wishing they had employed a professional. Your Uncle will probably be nearly as excited as you are on your wedding day and will be wanting to socialise with family members. He will also probably be having a drink or two, which makes him less likely to be paying attention to all the details going on during the day.
Importantly, your Uncle (unless he is a professional photographer) is unlikely to have the experience to deal with difficult lighting scenarios, know how to help you to relax and feel and look great in front of the camera, and back up equipment in case something goes wrong.
Most people don't realise that after the wedding many hours are spent refining the photographs using professional software to bring out the best in every image (including opening closed eyes!)
What happens if something goes wrong?
